My Bio
I live in central New Jersey and have been calling contras, squares, English country dances, American 18th Century dances, and barn dances for many years. I've been a featured performer at various festivals, at many dance weekends, and as a staff member at week-long dance camps, including the Berea Christmas Country Dance School, Country Dance & Song Society (CDSS) summer dance camps, and the Bay Area Country Dance Society (BACDS) summer dance camps.
I have worked extensively as a dancing master for re-enactors from various eras, but especially with Revolutionary War and Civil War re-enactors. I have a delightful and interesting repertoire of period-appropriate dances.
I'm known for enthusiasm and good humor, for an extensive repertoire representing the best of old and new dances, for clear and efficient teaching, and for my work with novice dancers.
In addition to my work as a caller, I've been devoted to the promotion and performance of historic English mummers plays and ceremonial dances in American communities. I'm the founder and foreman of Handsome Molly, a molly dance team (see my page on molly dancing). I was the foreman for Shandygaff Longsword and Garland and a former member of Griggstown Lock, a rapper sword team. For many years I've directed and performed in mummers plays in central New Jersey.
